Our Goal Is To Export Half Of What We Produce

Anadolu Yarn and Textile Factories has founded the newest and largest yarn factory of Europe in Çerkezköy.

One of the long-established firms in Turkey with a history of seventy years, Anadolu Yarn and Textile Factory have made a gigantic investment in Çerkezköy-Veliköy. With an investment of $75 Million, Anadolu Yarn has founded the largest and newest yarn factory in Europe. Covering 80.000 m2 and with an indoor space of 55.000 m2, the factory also produces nylon chips, which used to be imported, which is unique in Turkey. Anadolu Yarn produces 30% of all fibre produced in Turkey which produces 8% of the world fibre. Reducing external dependence on the yarn with this factory investment, the raw material, intermediate product and final product production capacity of Anadolu Yarn in nylon yarn has reached 70.000 tonnes per annum and in cotton 13.000 tonnes per annum.

Stating that they made a large production investment to reduce Turkey's external dependence on yarn and textiles, Anadolu Yarn Chairman Tuncay Uzun said: 'As of now, we are the firm that has the most modern technology in Europe. We produce a variety of yarn that even China cannot produce in the short-term. This is a great advantage, especially in exports. Anadolu Yarn stands apart from the unfruitful competition based solely on prices with large exporter countries such as China and India. Anadolu Yarn adds quality and value to Turkey's yarn exports.'

'OUR GOAL IS TO EXPORT HALF OF WHAT WE PRODUCE'

Calling attention to the fact that Turkey's textile exports rose 7-8% last year, Uzun emphasised that the role of yarn in this growth was also key. Uzun said: 'Today, Anadolu Yarn produce all varieties of yarn, especially nylon yarn, offering products to all textile groups from active sportswear to socks, from underwear to combed cotton and carpets. By producing raw materials like chips ourselves that used to be imported, we complete rapid, quality and integrated production. Our goal is to export 50% of our raw material, semi-finished products and nylon yarn production. In line with this, we have opened purchase offices in the EU countries and the Far East.'

Uzun stated that in Turkey, the yarn industry was a market employing large numbers of the workforce and that in their newly-constructed factory in Çerkezköy, they employed 600 individuals.

In addition, in their new factory, Anadolu Yarn has also established a natural gas facility called 'Cogeneration' to provide energy for all their production activities. This facility with a capacity of 13Mw provides all the energy needed for production by the factory.
